August 12, 2013 (UT) - In total 228 meteors were observed from Tierra del Sol, So California from 05:00 to 12:15 (UT) with an hour brake at 09:00. 31 Sporadic & 197 Perseids meteors were documented. The Perseids observed ranged mostly around 0 to 3d magnitude with 23 reaching -1 to -2 in brightness. 122 Perseids exhibited smoke trails with maximum duration remaining visible for ¼ to ½ second. Only 13 Perseids displayed a visible yellowish color. From my vantage point it appears that most of the brighter Perseids were traveling towards the south and latter southwest into and around the Cygnus region while the 3d & 4th magnitude were traveling to the south/southeast and to the north. Most showed a medium (5-10 degree) long trails and only 3 exhibited a small amount of fragmentation. No fireballs were seen. A large number of sporadic meteors and several Delta Aquariids were observed with most being 1st and 2nd magnitude. 19 sporadics documented were traveling from south to north into Lyre & Cygnus and 8 presumed Delta Aquariids east to southwest through the lower regions of Capricornus/Sagittarius. Most exhibited no color, 10 degree long trails (streaks) and no smoke trails. Only one sporadic displayed an emerald green color and a 20 degree long trail. Observations ended at 12:16 due to sky brightening.
