| Remarks | Given the time, we are in mid-dusk here in WI. At first I thought it was just a jet-fighter taking off from our local reserve base as I have seen these depart on dusk missions before. But given the size of the trail, the object didn't seem to be moving as fast as a plane should have been - suggesting it was much further away. The green color was also very unique - planes typically display the yellow/orange color but this was distinctly green. I then wondered if it was a firework of some kind as part of a delayed 4th of July celebration, but it tracked horizontally, while fireworks typically travel vertically or at an angle close to vertical. I wish I could have watched it longer, but I was driving and trees quickly obscured the view as it was somewhat low on the horizon. |

| Remarks | At first I thought it might just be a jet fighter taking off from Truax Field. But after seeing small fragments break away from the main body with small trails behind them, combined with the vivid green color, I had to assume it was a meteorite. I only saw the object for 3 to 4 seconds, but saw 2 or 3 fragments break off the main body of the object. |
