At about the same time that we were beginning work on AMCA, a number of other people were also developing FS meteor counting systems. Among them were the team of David Meisel of the State University of New York and James Richardson of the American Meteor Society. Robert Mobile of the Network Services Division of Motorola, Werfried Kuneth in Austria, and Kimio Maegawa and Kazuhiro Suzuki in Japan were doing the same. We have had informative discussions with all these people.
Dr. Meisel was especially helpful in giving overall guidance in the area of radio meteor observing. He also visited our site and made useful suggestions regarding the equipment. Mr. Mobile recommended the A/D board that we incorporated in our system, and answered innumerable questions, as we progressed toward a functioning meteor counting system.
