I have seen meteors before, but never during the day and never headed what appeared to be straight down, as apposed to across the sky.

It was awsome to see this during the daytime. The tail disappeared as soon as the event finished. Only lastred 2 seconds.

I saw a straight white line being drawn from high towards the ground. The end was orange and red at the leading edge. The tail faded behind the red part and the a flash as it disappeared below my hoizon in front of me.
