Reports Report 176e (Event 176-2011)

Observer
Name Dan C
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks The fireball seemed to be heading in the direction of Alvin or Santa Fe, TX. Maybe it was just coincidence, but less than 5 minutes after losing sight of the "fireball", I noticed an odd looking, dark black, somewhat striated band across the night horizon to the southwest. It seemed too uniform for clouds and was oddly opaque to the background stars (and possibly blocking part of the crescent moon). I walked in the house, put my keys down, then walked back out to take another look and the horizon was the normal nighttime hazy black and the obstructing band was moving across the sky, west to east, like a creepy fast storm front. Within another minute or two, the smoke/haze had blown by and cleared. Maybe smoke from an impact?
