| Remarks | I witnessed the event Tuesday evening from the Houston area while driving and thought it was a leftover firework at first, but quickly realized that it was a meteor fall very far away (since it was moving relatively slow from my viewpoint). It was low on the horizon when I first saw it and it was angled sharply down and leftward from my perspective...moving SW to NE?From the spot I viewed it, it was between 060 and 075 degrees or ENE of Houston. Drew a line on a map that night and it passed between Hattiesburg and Meridian MS. Very cool to see. Lasted about 3 seconds, greenish trail with white "sparks" coming off. As soon as it disappeared over the horizon a huge white flash lit up the eastern sky. |
