Reports Report 3217l (Event 3217-2016)

Observer
Name Matthew K
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks The object appeared about twice as bright as Venus at its brightest. It traveled in a straight horizontal line from left to right across my field of vision (looking roughly NW). At first i thought it was an airplane, but realized it was a little too bright and traveling a little too fast and then the bright light abruptly vanished. There was no glowing tail; i've only seen that once before. It was dark out so i don't know if there was any smoke trail. There was no sound. There was no variance in the brightness, no final flair, no visible disintegration of the object, it simply ceased to show any light very abruptly. A bit out of the ordinary (i'm about 98% certain it wasn't just a plane that simply flew into a cloud but could easily have my arm twisted if someone said it was a distant rocket), which lead me to looking for info on fireballs with no tails, which lead me here in my puzzlement. :-)
