Reports Report 3216gd (Event 3216-2016)

Observer
Name Justin W
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks It was unlike anything any of the three of us had ever witnessed: brighter, bigger, longer lasting...we were almost in disbelief. We had been star-gazing for 15 minutes or so. We were on vacation, camping near Lake Billy Chinook; far from any city lights. One important detail is that I'm not really sure about the time. Could have been plus or minus 30 minutes. Just estimated based on when others went to bed.

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 3s
Length 20°
Remarks It began as a very bright white fireball far above the intensity of size of any planet visible at night. If I had to guess its radius appeared 5x Venus. It left a very thick bright white streak as it moved across the sky. About a third of the way it changed to both green and then orange (not sure about the order, but I remember both colors). It had bursts of greater intensity. It was witnessed by me and two others. Two of us saw it start. It went on long enough for us to recognize it wasn't quickly going away and then to shout to our other friend 2 or 3 times to get his attention--at which point he saw it and it continued for as much time as it had already been going.
Terminal flash
Observation No
Remarks -
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks It has multiple bursts of intense light in several different colors at different points in the sky. It started to go in between trees on the horizon as it ended, so it was difficult to tell what happened at the end.
