Reports Report 2700u (Event 2700-2016)

Experience Level 2/5
Remarks Hiking to Longs Peak this morning, and I often prefer to hike with a dim red light to save my night vision. A flash appeared to the north/northeast which was bright enough to light up the whole surroundings in light maybe an order of magnitude brighter than full moonlight. I looked up to see the fireball disappear below the horizon, but the glowing trail remained for 10-15 seconds, still much larger and brighter than anything else i've seen before. The light was particularly strange and stunning as there was almost no lunar illumination at the time.
