It was an amazing experience and the only fireball I've ever seen that actually occurred in front of my eyes! It lasted between 2 and 3 seconds, and it looked almost as if it was coming straight down. It caught my attention in my peripheral vision because it was so bright, then I looked directly at it and noticed how large it was. It was much bigger than any meteor or shooting star I've ever seen! It's difficult to describe using words, but from my perspective it would be like the size of a quarter, as compared to the other large stars that are each about the size of a small pea. I got to see it directly for a little less than approximately two seconds before it disappeared. I was in my car on the interstate when I saw it take place so I'm not sure if there was any noise or aftersound related to the fireball. There was nothing in the way of my line of vision to the fireball, and when it disappeared there was no light or trail left behind, it was just gone. Another person was in the car with me and she saw it as well. We were both ecstatic about it because the experience was a first for both of us. It was definitely a moment I'll remember forever, and I think this kind of thing is a once in a lifetime type of treasure! |
