Reports Report 2331a (Event 2331-2016)

Observer
Name David A
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks Location could not be submitted in your report. Actual observation occurred over the Pacific Ocean, approximately 900 miles southwest of LAX. The event was witnessed by several persons in at least 3 other aircraft. Unlike any meteor reentry I have ever seen before and I have seen many. First thought was we were witnessing an aircraft explosion inflight (thank God not). Glowing trail of debris behind a single object which itself increased in brightness as if exploding at least once. What struck myself and the other observer was the slowness of it's progress from our field of view as it moved from left to right at a level trajectory. Our altitude 40,000. STS reentry if it was still flying would have been a plausible explanation - that's the best I can compare it to. Noted the time on my watch as 0245 Pacific local time. Exact location also saved for reference but not disclosed at this time. Please feel free to contact me if you also witnessed this unforgettable event.
