| Remarks | It was not yet dark in DC, and this object was large and bright. It didn't look like a nighttime meteor (the "shooting star" type) or a distant airplane or satellite. It seemed bigger and more like a ball. I was driving and observed this through my windshield. I chose the "2-5 seconds" duration option but duration was at the short end of that -- 2-3 seconds probably. I found your brightness scale difficult to use and don't feel confident about my estimate of that, especially because the sky wasn't fully dark yet. I initially wondered if it could be a remnant of someone's firework but there were no others and no noise, and angle seemed too shallow. |

| Remarks | Towards the end of its path the light seemed to split and stutter perhaps twice, then went dark. It looked a little like a piece of firework coming down and burning out but wasn't that. |
