The entire sky and atmosphere lit up like it was 12 in the afternoon. If you have ever watched videos through night vision of Iraq or other war era nighttime firefights, it looked just like that but magnified by about 10x. The sky and atmosphere lit up for about 2 seconds with a green/yellow tint.
