| Remarks | The first flash lasted about 1.5-3 seconds, lighting up the sky like the sun. It then grew dim for about a second before it flashed again while fragmenting. My intial thought was that it was a lightning strike before I saw what it was and noticed zero cloud cover. |

| Remarks | About three minutes after the event my friend and I heard two deep booms about 1 second apart. Both being combat veterans, it reminded us of high payload ordnance exploding 10-20 miles away. The booms came from east of our position, where we had seen the fireball. |
