It resembled a flare, but it was too large and was coming down on an angle that made it obvious that it was not. I thought it appeared close and assumed that whatever it was landed near by, in a couple of towns over.

About a second to two seconds after the fireball was out of view the entire sky flashed green approximately 4 times.
