Remarks I don't remember the exact time I saw the fireball. It was somewhere between 21:00-22:30. I was in Commerce that night and was shocked by the poor visibility. My friends and I were lounging around outside when I looked up at the empty, starless night at the exact moment a fireball shot across the sky, lighting everything in it's path. It was unlike anything I have seen before. I'm lucky to live out in the country, where, on average, I catch anywhere from 1-5 "shooting stars" each night. But this, this was as if God himself were skimming his finger through the Milky Way to graze our atmosphere. A white ball of fire engulfed in a plasma blue tail to trace the journey. The fireball itself was the size of a come, if held at arm's length, and "a tail as big as a kite". It pierced through the earth's atmosphere for 5-10 seconds, leaving my friends and I completely stunned, holding our breaths and unable to speak. In the quiet of the night, we were all stilled as we witness this spectacular and humbling star event. It was an image that will be painted in memory for the rest of my life.
