Remarks | This was one of the largest meteors that I have seen. It was literally right above the interstate that I was approaching and had quite a trailing white tail to it. The only other time that I have seen one like this was about 20 years ago. Living in a military community with a high incidence of navy jets, I am always looking to the skies. This was definitely not a plane and seemed to have all of the characteristics of a meteor. The only thing that I am shocked about is that I didn't see any coverage of it on the local news, and it was so bright that I couldn't have been the only witness. I will be curious to see if there were other sightings on the same night and approximately the same time. The time that I saw this is pretty certain as I was on the phone (speaker) and checked my call record to verify it. |
