Remarks | This is actually the third time I have seen a fireball in the sky here in the mountains... I consider myself very fortunate as I know they are a rare thing to witness. I have to say that this one was one of the largest and clearest in detail, as well as an amazingly beautiful sight to get to witness! It appeared to fall into the forest behind my property. Yes, it seemed that close, (about 5-10 miles at best) ...although it isn't likely that it was. The only time I have seen this much detail and size has been in video captured by the experts! I was in awe! |

Remarks | glowing streak with several (3-5) tails coming off of it, appeared to have smaller pieces trailing it. from a bright yellow fading to a dull yellow, the smaller pieces were a light orangeish to a med yellow. the tails coming off looked similar to fireworks in the way they branched off of the main streak, except they all fell in a sorta downward direction instead of all directions like fireworks do. the streaks were deep yellow fading to a white....same with the ball they came off of. |
Terminal flash | |
---|---|
Observation | Yes |
Remarks | I noticed a light moving in the sky...like a distant star except it was moving and I could tell when it entered our atmosphere because it all at once seemed 1,000,000x's brighter and so much more colorful as well as a huge size difference. It became much bigger, tail much more evident, and smaller tails branched off of it. By the time it wasn't visible it seemed to be right over the ridge behind my property and large enough to be that close. I think a jet was going by at the same time, so I don't know if there was any sound or not, unless the sound I heard wasn't a jet it was this flying ball of fire and sparks. I don't really know for sure... It was very big. |

Observation | Yes |
Remarks | several tails sparked off of the ball and mostly off the main tail as I described in the terminal flash answer area. |
