Remarks | Incredible! Meteor / fireball lasted about 3.5-4 seconds, traveling south to north looking westward from LA seeming to maintain altitude as the path did not descend very much. If path was traced in sky angle would probably be 12-15 degrees. When I first saw in my peripheral vision I thought it was a firework, then an aircraft, as I live near an airport as the speed was much slower and more spectacular than a typical meteor sighting. Angle of descent and south to north "flight path" is highly unlikely for aircraft in our area as the nearby major airport reroutes them. It was very awesome sighting! |

Remarks | Meteor light (brightness) flared (not a sudden flash or explosion) after which 2-3 small fragments about 1/8 original size broke off. Meteor / fireball then dissipated fairly quickly. Fragmented about 2.5 seconds through a 3.5 or 4 second "flight". |
