Meteor appear in the south west sky and seemed to go straight up. Then it went diagonally across the sky when it was overhead I was able to see it's tail which looked like gold sparks. I was able to see what I assumed to be bits of the meteor braking off and burning up. No sound was heard. I'm thinking that this was quite large. Duration of sighting was well over a minute before it went over the trees and I lost sight of it heading in the north east direction.
