Remarks Our house backs to a wooded park. I was facing a back window and the fireball ascended from behind the trees, arced up, then descended back behind the trees. To the best of my recollection, when the fireball descended back behind the trees its trail was still faintly visible all of the way back to where it had first appeared above the trees. The top of the arc was further above the treeline than the to ends of the trail were apart...I thought someone had fired a bottle rocket or Roman candle in the park (and called the police to report that!). The flash from when it exploded occurred after it had descended back behind the trees.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks The flash occurred after the fireball had descended behind some trees but was still very bright. I thought it was fireworks in the park behind our house. My bride and I were in a darkened living room when the fireball occurred. Only I was looking out the window. The flash was so bright, however, that it lit up the room enough that she new there had been a bright flash.
Fragmentation
Observation No
