I didn't see the the entire duration of the fireball. I stepped outside to place a call. After I hit the "call" button I casually looked up and immediately saw the fireball. It was almost directly above me when I first viewed it. The timestamp on the outgoing phone call was 9:08 pm CST, which is how I know the exact time of the event.

The trail was a fire trail, I didn't observe any smoke. The trail was fire, same color as the fireball.
