What my wife and I saw was red & about the size of a large planet or star in the southeast sky. It was stationary (not moving) and consistently bright red for several minutes and then the light gradually dimmed and faded to black. About 15 seconds or so later & now in an easterly direction, I saw a bright streak like a meteor fall behind the trees.
