After we saw the meteor I stayed outside for several minutes scanning the sky to see anything else. I noticed the smoke trail was directly over my position going from southwest to northeast. I went inside to get my wife and bring her out to show her. The smoke trail was still visible several minutes after the event. Something that I found odd was that the wind was blowing at a steady pace (from the west) and I could see the clouds moving, but the majority of the smoke trail (south of my position) did not appear to be moving with the wind. My guess is that part of the smoke trail was at a much higher altitude and the wind was occuring at a lower altitude. Very cool to see such an event. Too bad the kids fell asleep in the stroller.
