I have observed meteor showers before. This is by far the largest and brightest meteor I have ever seen. It lit up the ground and woods a little as it passed through the sky. I am a scientist, so I take note of things like this.

approx 4 minutes after the sighting, I heard a muffled boom which came from the general direction of the fireball. I was outside skiing through a quite marsh, and there were no other noises around me
