I was facing south/southwest, low on the horizon, looking in the same direction I watch SpaceX launches from Vandenberg. The object came in from the north and traveled south across the sky. It had a bright head with a long glowing trail and stayed visible for about 1 minute 9 seconds. It looked like it had a larger, flatter leading edge at first, then debris melted or broke away as it moved. No sound at all. It appeared to be on a very shallow, grazing path through the upper atmosphere — like it was barely skimming and might have skipped back out into space if it hadn't burned up. I recorded the whole thing on my iPhone 16 from my ranch near Santa Maria / Orcutt. Another person farther north reported something very similar moving south around the same time. My phone number is 805-249-3583. I also posted it on X https://x.com/_KrisHunter_/status/2064630540406546686?s=20 |
