Remarks At approximately 02:22 BST on Sunday 7 June 2026, I observed a bright object in the east to south-east sky from Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. There was a break in the clouds and the sky area appeared lit up. A sudden orange light appeared from the darker area of sky. It seemed high in the sky and had a trail, similar in appearance to a firework trail but much higher and not rising from the ground. It then flared or exploded into a larger orange/white light, appearing to break up into brighter fragments or a small cluster, before fading away. No sound or boom was heard. It did not look like a normal firework because it appeared far too high and seemed to be travelling through the sky/atmosphere rather than being launched upwards. My impression was that it may have been a fireball meteor or object breaking up in the atmosphere.
