Remarks I was observing the Atlantic Ocean from a balcony in Puerto de Santiago, Tenerife. Before the object became visible, a very bright white flash illuminated the surroundings, similar to a powerful light being switched on. The flash was noticeable in the reflection of a mobile phone screen and briefly increased the ambient brightness on the terrace. A few seconds later I observed a very bright green object resembling a large glowing droplet or sphere. The object appeared suddenly, moved across the sky for a few seconds above the ocean, to the left of La Gomera as seen from my location, and then disappeared abruptly. I did not obtain any photographs or videos. Weather conditions were good and the sky was mostly clear. The luminous object appeared visually very large. Its apparent width was slightly smaller than the full Moon and its apparent length approximately twice the apparent diameter of the Moon. This is a visual estimate by the observer. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. It was amazing! I’ve seen many meteors in the sky before, but this was a completely new experience. It was a huge object.
