Reports Report 2571f (Event 2571-2026)

Observer
Name Dwight T
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks When I saw the fireball, I was on the phone with a friend looking westward towards the Manhattan skyline out of my living room window—which is floor to ceiling—in Long Island City, Queens (NYC). From my vantage point, the greenish-blue fireball and its tail appeared just to the south of the Empire State Building in midtown Manhattan and disappeared before falling parallel to the horizon—right above the NYU Langone Health- Kimmel Pavilion Hospital in Kips Bay Manhattan on East 34th Street (again, from the POV inside my apartment looking out of the window). The event occurred too fast for me to take a photo and I’ve only approximated the time because the call lasted 3+ hours (from 8:54 PM ET until roughly 12:20 AM ET); I wasn’t aware I could report something like this in an “official capacity” so I’m ’guesstimating’ the time I recall on my Apple Watch when I looked at it not long after seeing the fireball (as I was also telling my friend on the phone about the fireball).
