Reports Report 8518bh (Event 8518-2025)

Observer
Name Tim K
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I have seen a few really good meteors since, some large, but not like the one I saw on Nov 13 at 8:12 pm 2025, I did not log dates, all were 2-3 second events, entering atmosphere from all different angles, latest one I saw was in the low, perhaps 45° above horizon in the North North West sky from my vantage point of my property heading appeared to be traveling from SW traveling toward North East, mostly Northerly

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 5s
Length 10°
Remarks It was size of a quarter held at arms full length before exploding lighting up entire neighborhood with a green flash, the train I refer to was not smoke, but a left over green light image of what was there, like a delayed light image, kind of like how a camera takes a picture, this started directly above the second I walked out of my side house door facing west, first thing I do whenever going outside when dark is to look up, I do this every night, immediately I looked up and it was just as if it was already there and travelling due West and exploded with a great green flash, but heard nothing, I may not have heard anything due to yelling to myself HOLY SH*T, So, I may not have noticed a sound due to me making noise myself, this was the second most incredible meteor I have ever seen, as the best, most incredible was something you would not buy as it was so close or large, it appeared as a fire ball with green, blue, red and orange fla es, shooting tons of sparks off of it and appearing the size of a full moon, travelling from west to east and took approx 5-7 full minutes to cross from the west toward the East and out of view, but while passing directly over us, it split into two pieces, the smaller of the two following along side the larger half, , we were standing at the high point of Black mountain near Black Lake Michigan, Cheboygan, area,at tip of Mitt, we assume this huge fireball more than likely fell into Lake Huron, if not into Canada, since We have never heard anything about this incident of maybe 25 years ago, I can only assume this massive fireball never actually entered our atmosphere and perhaps was much larger than I thought as this may have skipped on our atmosphere and continued into space, unsure, but it was something my brother and I will never ever forget, can't remember exact date, but must have been before smart phones or we would have recorded it.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks Massive green flash, lit up as far as I could see, all videos I have seen of this particular event all appear so far away and small, I feel like it started directly straight up for my perspective, and came downward toward the west, exploding roughly ( from straight up to due West) starting from straight up toward horizon, exploded just before horizon, this was way larger than any video I have seen of this particular event, to the point being so large, I thought I may be able to travel maybe 10-20 miles away and perhaps find fragments.
Fragmentation
Observation No
