It looked similar to smoke-- at first we thought it was a plane falling out of the sky. It was glowing like it was burning, and slowly faded from the tail end towards where the meteor had busted up (or whatever you call that).

It was what first alerted me to it-- it was beyond view through my car window, but suddenly it looked like lightening flashed and I looked up to see it beginning to burn out entirely.
