Reports Report 945n (Event 945-2026)

Observer
Name Eric B
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I cannot comment on whether there were sounds with this fireball, as I was listening to music at the time... but oddly enough, it almost felt like I could hear or feel a sizzling sound while seeing this fireball (and no, I don't do drugs). Anywho, this was the greatest experience I've had yet with a fireball! I cannot totally say how long the white fireball lasted, as I first saw it in the upper periphery of my vision... but I'd say it lasted roughly three seconds from the first time I saw it, to the terminal flash - at 8:03pm CST (exact time) -- traveling east-southeast. At the time, I was walking past some trees and a power pole. When I first saw it at the edge my upper vision, I first thought that the power line or pole had a small electrical arc that was smoldering. As I tilted my head up to focus on the fireball -- before realizing what it was, I thought that someone had shot off a firework -- sparkling as it flew. It only took a brief moment before I realized that it was indeed a fireball. There was a tremendous light trail behind it as it sparkled -- as if it was disintegrating as it flew. Right before the terminal flash, it appeared that the fireball split into two. What a sight! ! !
