Reports Report 790z (Event 790-2026)

Observer
Name Noel L
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks The meteor changed color several times as it crossed the sky, which I believe took slightly over five seconds, but it might have been slightly less. I think two of the colors were white and light blue. I saw it from the very beginning, when it first started to appear, and that happened slower than in any prior fireball I’ve seen, and I’ve probably seen about eight of them because I do spend a lot of time looking at the night sky. This time, I was driving on a suburban road with a lot of ambient light, but nothing was very bright, so I could see it very clearly, until it disappeared behind a tree, which is where I marked the end of my observation in that part of this questionnaire. I rolled down my window after about 30 seconds but didn’t hear anything…until I got to my destination and was inside a building. I then heard a “boom” but that was approximately 22 minutes after the sighting, and while it sounded very much like a sonic boom, I might have been someone slamming a heavy door or something like that, slough I don’t recall having heard any similar sounds here during my three day visit.
