| Remarks | I was driving home from work going Northbound on I-380. I saw a bright light off to my right (east). I was almost to the Cedar Rapids airport exit & I always see planes coming in at this location. At first I thought it was a plane, but it was moving way too fast. Then it was right above me & I realized it was a meteor. It was bright white, then bright blue-green, & had a red trail that seemed to "thrust" brighter every couple of seconds & would last a few seconds each time. It then became a bright white as it "exploded" off to the west, then faded to a darker white as it started to disappear (which looked as if it was just south of the Cedar Rapids airport at that time). As it disappeared, there were several red colored fragments that seemed to scatter, then it disappeared completely. |
