Remarks Fireball Sighting Report Date: Friday, 30 January 2026 Time of Sighting: Approximately 11:25 PM NZDT (shortly before 11:34 PM) Observer Location: Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt (Elevated hillside property) Coordinates: -41.178, 174.991 Sighting Details: Duration of Flash: ~3 seconds Duration of Tail (Persistent Train): 5–7 seconds Color: Brilliant fluorescent green glow surrounding a bright white core. Direction of Travel: Heading Southwest (from Stokes Valley toward Lower Hutt). Elevation: Appeared nearly overhead (zenith) from the conservatory/lounge view. Description: The object appeared as a very bright, close-flying "shooting star" with a distinct neon-green halo. It traversed a large portion of the sky before disappearing, leaving behind a glowing trail that remained visible for several seconds after the main body vanished. Unsure on train length but it went right across my conservatory length, probably longer.
