Remarks | We were traveling back to Cedar Rapids from Iowa City, northbound on I-380 (about mile 6), when it shot across the sky moving from east to west directly ahead of us. A bright luminescent green ball of light with a long golden-yellow tail. The event lasted for four or five seconds, ending when the meteor flared out and went dark. No sound was heard as we were traveling in our car at the time. If you want to search for fragments look in Western Iowa or in Nebraska. Quite the sight! |
