| Remarks | We were flying in a C-17 military aircraft traveling northbound from our indicated location at about 2,000 ft above the water. Partly cloudy conditions partially obscured the head-on aspect; however, crew was under night vision goggles and every member of the five member crew saw it clearly for the duration of the event. |

| Persistent train | |
|---|---|
| Observation | Yes |
| Duration | 15s |
| Length | 20° |
| Remarks | I was under Night Vision. The trail started as a small glowing train, then grew wider and longer but became more translucent. It only faded slightly at first then all at once dissipated only leaving the intense streaks behind the individual objects that lasted mere seconds. |

| Fragmentation | |
|---|---|
| Observation | Yes |
| Remarks | The object began as a single point of intense light and then began to fragment into seven or eight differently sized objects each with their own individual trails. I noticed slight pulsing in intensity as the objects began to spread apart both vertically and laterally |
