I am fairly knowledgeable about the night sky, and while it was still fairly bright out I was able to extrapolate fairly precisely the trajectory of the meteorite. It would have gone pretty close to the pan of the Big Dipper traveling pretty vertically from approximately 45° straight down. North Northwest

Sounded like a muffled boom shortly after it went below the horizon. I'm assuming it was the entry into our atmosphere.
