Reports Report 5338d (Event 5338-2025)

Observer
Name Sarah H
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I saw a similar thing on 8/24 (same location same general direction but slightly more northwest in the sky relative to what I saw tonight but thought it was my imagination. Last night was as fast but not as bright a streak and didn’t have such a bright flash at the end. Tonight it was remarkable enough that gasped in surprise and decided to look online to see if there might be some astronomical event that I could have seen. I decided to report it.

Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks There was a sudden fast slightly arched thin streak that was wider and brighter at its terminus and then quickly disintegrated.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks It happened quickly but the streak flashed briefly into a teardrop shaped flare that disintegrated almost immediately. There was more than one color but I can’t remember exactly but my impression was the flare was blueish on the left side with a bright flash that might have been yellow with a bit of deep orange or red. I had never seen anything like it before but my impression was streak, brief bright flare with more than one color, then it quickly disappeared, the edges of the flat disintegrating into the black of the sky then gone.
