At approximately 02:30 AM local time (EEST) on August 15, 2025, two observers (Plamen and Ivo) witnessed a bright fireball while standing outside in the area of Golemo Malovo, Bulgaria (42.9135622, 23.0247651).
The object appeared suddenly and was clearly visible to both observers – one seeing it directly, and the other catching it with peripheral vision. It moved rapidly downward with a vivid greenish-white glow, leaving a thick, bright trail behind.
The head of the object was slightly rounded and glowing intensely. The trajectory was steep, as if it was about to impact the ground, but the fireball extinguished just before apparent contact with the surface.
No sound or sonic boom was heard, and no fragmentation was observed. The sky was clear, with minimal moonlight interference. The duration of the event was around 1 to 2 seconds.
It was significantly brighter than the full moon, with high contrast and sharp visibility. The event left a strong visual impression due to the intensity and apparent proximity of the fireball. |
