Reports Report 4160f (Event 4160-2025)

Observer
Name Nathan C
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks With some incredible luck, I was able to capture the fireball trail on one of my 300" sub-exposures while photographing M 24. The streak appears to show fragmentation, and what I believe is some of the smaller orange "sparks". I tried using the other report form but it wouldn't let me get past the photo upload section. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ff_ngr-i-fDlaJOANFPDRiJUZ-bvOAcN?usp=sharing Includes a processed JPG, a calibrated FITS ("Autosave" prefix), and the raw light FITS. The FITS header data should contain acquisition details. Feel free to do as you wish with these!

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 2s
Length 20°
Remarks Bright, deep orange flames near the core of the train, along with orange sparks further along along (until half way through the visible trail), and a clearly visible dark-gray smoke trail lit by the "sparking" that occupied the latter half of the whole train
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks A very short bright flash the moment it burst into flames. I don't remember much of the details besides it being a quite bright and shocking white flash (it was a clear night in a bortle 2 zone)
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks Most of the fragmentation I was able to make out was the sparking along the trail, I recall moments where there may have larger "sparks" that may have been fragmentation
