Reports Report 2825ak (Event 2825-2025)

Observer
Name Joseph M
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks The color was an intense, bright orange, as if an immense firework work streaking across the sky at a very high altitude, maybe three or four times as high as a commercial airplane. The sonic boom was like a double-knock on my home's living room window, like someone was outside knocking firmly in rapid succession. My wife, who was still outside, simply heard it as a large boom, and came inside to ask if I'd heard it. I had, but as it impacted my home's window, rather than my eardrum directly. It was very cool. The whole family saw it.

Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks After unsuccessfully trying to video the fireball in time in my driveway, which we first saw looking West, before quickly exiting the car, as it was moving upward and Southeast (right-to-left) I went to the front door, went inside and a second or two later heard a double-knock at my living room window (a total of about 3 minutes after it vanished), as I wondered who knocked on our window, my wife entered the house and said "Did you hear that?!?," and I realized that it wasn't localized and it occurred to me that it was the sonic boom from the fireball/meteor we just saw.

Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks It appeared to be fragmenting as it moved, leaving a trail of various sized bright particles. As robust as it was, I though there'd be time to record it, but it was gone in seconds after I first saw it and leapt out of the car to witness it.
