Purely unexpected and now trying to remember a retrospectively about 40.minutes later. Essentially passed between sirius and bottom left hand corner of Orion if that makes sense. Heading SW. Was only looking because discussing all the planetary line ups with my mother who is the real astronomer. Very bright and orange. Seen meteors before but this was much brighter and 'closer' if that makes sense. So ?fireball
