Remarks I don't have a long history with meteor shower observation, but I did spend a night back in august watching meteors for hours during the Perseids shower. I have also spent many nights photographing the night sky and have seen random meteors, and even captured a couple on photo. This was unlike others, too fast to be a satellite or plane, too slow to be a meteor. I had just got home from work and it happened to be clear for the first time in awhile. And There it was, I saw it through the trees. Distant, and small, but unique. When it first caught my eye, I assumed it was a plane, but when I saw its speed, angle, and its disappearance, I knew it was something else. Due to its size and perceived distance, it could have been a very strange meteor. However, it would be by FAR the longest lasting one I have seen. (I would guess I have seen 150-200 meteors)
