Reports Report 7647an (Event 7647-2024)

Observer
Name Kelly B
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks It was incredibly close to me. It was angled down almost at a full 90 degree angle from the ground. My first thought was that it was literally falling over the neighbors backyard 2 houses over. This is the second falling light I've seen close by. The first one, years ago, felt like it was closer to me than this one. But, this one was so much brighter and clearer. Maybe it's due to I was on the ground for the last one & this one I was on an extended height balcony, Im not sure. I could see details on this one. I could see the actual object as a separate entity from the tail. I could see when it started to get even brighter just before it flashed out. I have a feeling I'll never see another one as close, clear and crisp as what I saw this morning. I was in awe

Remarks There were multiple thudded booms maybe 2 seconds after the light winked out. They were south and slightly west of where I saw the light come down. The volume of them was much lower than I would have anticipated considering how close the light was to me.

Remarks -
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks I had just walked outside when approximately 5 seconds later I saw the light. I had to look up at maybe a 60 degree angle when I saw the light falling. When it was about at a 45 degree angle from my direct line of sight, I saw yellow in it and then an orange flash before it just disappeared. It was incredibly fast, maybe all three colors were together the entire time and then just brightened considerably, but it recorded in my head as white then yellow & orange.
Fragmentation
