Reports Report 2158agx (Event 2158-2013)

Observer
Name Daines T
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks initially I thought this was an aircraft afire at sufficient altitude to obscure its familiar shape [because its apparent speed was similar, as it coursed across the sky]. I rejected that thought immediately because there was almost no flaming, no smoke trail, very little fragmentation, and its trajectory was almost flat as it moved from upper right to lower left across the windscreen.. just as this object disappeared behind a tree line, it appeared to change trajectory upward and after I passed the tree line there were no further observations . my final impression was of an atmosphere skimming object, not ignited, that bounced off the atmosphere. I alerted my wife who observed this phenomenon as well. we are seniors, retired professionals. this was an initial experience for both of us - with a meteor. the sun had recently set out of the upper right quadrant of the windshield of my vehicle, the sky was a brilliant blue, little or no cloud cover, and my vantage point was slightly higher than the visible terrain. my vision is approximately 20-20 without glasses. there were NO media reports of this event that I experienced - and I immediately tuned the vehicle radio to a talk/traffic channel searching for news., I have not since found any report, other than a recent NASA report of a NEO meteor, noiw due back in 2032. trajectory for this was initially considered to be from Washington DC to Baton Rouge, La. however that would appear to be incorrect for a atmosphere skimming object. [i.e., no smoke trail] and a higher trajectory, which is why I rejected the falling airliner theory almost immediately. I have made no other report concerning this incident.
