I am uncertain of the actual time I’d seen what I thought was an exceptionally visible (brighter, more well-defined, and a longer lasting event despite still being very brief) “shooting star.” I was working on our farm in the hay fields till well after dark, and the time of 9pm chosen for purposes of your documentation is unfortunately just an estimation. What I have as reference however, is my cell phone calls list, which confirms for me this event took place between my last two farm calls for the evening Tuesday, Oct 8th, 2024, which was between 7:40pm and 9:44pm. Upon recollecting, my intuition tells me it was between 8 & 9, but disappointingly, I just can’t say for certain. I definitely can try to pin down more specifically if helpful, and will be able to do so by talking to folks working with us, recalling the timing of our specific project schedule, verifying when some had left for dinner, and then when I’d shared with a couple of them far to face what I’d witnessed. Although unusual for me, and totally fortuitous that I looked upwards into the darkness precisely when I did, there was no mistaking the details seen in the night sky. Not knowing what it actually was left me curious, and my research has led me to your website. I am thrilled to be able to send this report. It was remarkable for sure!
I do also want to add that I don’t think I heard any associated sounds, but expected to as from my vantage point it seemed to be falling from the sky, coming down nearly perpendicularly to the earth’s surface, fading from view before reaching the level of the tree line in my horizon. I reflexively thought of perhaps a satellite falling from the sky. My brain filled in some blanks, I suspect, as my imagination out of expectation created for me the faint sounds of a crash or some type of explosion in the projected distance. If any feedback can be given, I’d very much appreciate hearing your assessment. Thank you for this opportunity! |
