| Remarks | We were driving Eastward on Highway 58. We noticed a green light that was growing as if on a "dimmer switch", growing in intensity. While initially looking for an exploding transformer or shorted power line, our eyes were drawn to a fireball (the source). We clearly saw a what appeared to be a very large fireball, surrounded by bright green light, peaking in intensity just prior to "burning out" above the horizon. It looked so large, that we assumed it must be close. We were driving so we didn't hear any corresponding sounds. The visual was amazing, lasting somewhere between 5 - 10 seconds I would estimate. We have never seen a meteor so large/close in terms of perspective. |
