Reports Report 4759fc (Event 4759-2024)

Observer
Name Jonathan V
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I was awakened by something and I felt the earth shake for several seconds. I did not have my contacts in but my eyes opened slightly to where I saw out the window and I thought that is was sunrise I looked at my watch and it said 1:15. I am alerted to look at time because I have reported earthquakes before and this felt like an earthquake. With it being 1:15 I thought that the light I saw must be the moon. I woke up at 6:00 and submitted an earthquake report to USGS. But my sister contacted me later in the day and said she heard an explosion. I contacted USGS again and told them what had happened so that they could make changes. I cannot accurately say the actual degrees of the slant of the fireball and I cannot necessarily say that I saw the meteor. I had to guess on those questions so you can choose to disregard this because I did not have my contacts in. I just saw the light and saw yellow and white and as mentioned I thought the sun was on the horizon.
