| Remarks | I did not see the object because I live with high mountains around me. But I was awake and looking at Big Bald from my bedroom window. Suddenly the light in the whole sky behind the bald got really bright, and at first I thought it could be from lightening, but there was no definition or streak of light, just intense bright that then got even brighter and then faded, after which I heard the loud low cracking boom. Having seen a large meteor a few months ago, I recognized that this is what must have caused the events because of how quickly the light came up, got suddenly more intense, then faded, and the boom was very loud for me, like thunder not far off. So, though I didn't see the actual fireball, but only the light from it, I still wanted to file this report in case my hearing of the boom from this location is helpful. |

| Remarks | My line of sight was toward a high-elevation bald, behind which the object had disappeared. The entire skyline lit up in bright yellowish light for a second, then it got even more intense with white light before fading. |
